Shrub Care Services

Tree and Shrub Services are most effective when the plant species, insect and/or disease characteristics, and customer objectives are all taken into account. With these goals in mind and our overall objective of protecting the long term, overall health and wellness of your property, we present the Standard Shrub Care Program.

In order to maximize the health and vigor of your plantings, the Program provides Insect/ Disease Control, Fertilization and Nutrient Management. Insect and disease are ever present and, left untreated, can cause catastrophic destruction of ornamental trees and shrubs. This proven Program is designed to proactively limit or eliminate insect and disease issues through customized applications performed on a timely basis throughout the season. Each of the 6 standard treatments is outlined below:


1) Early Spring (March) 

Apply a finished solution of Horticultural Oil to over-wintering insect larvae. This service will help control populations of damaging insects before they emerge in spring.


2) Spring (April/May)

Inspect and treat ornamental trees and shrubs as needed for Insect and Disease Damage; Chelated Iron application to combat Nutrient Deficiency and Iron Chlorosis (yellowing of leaves)


3) Summer (June/July)

Inspect and treat ornamental trees and shrubs as needed for Insect and Disease Damage; Chelated Iron application to combat Nutrient Deficiency and Iron Chlorosis.


4) Late Summer / Early Fall (September)

Inspect and treat ornamental trees and shrubs as needed for Insect and Disease Damage; Chelated Iron application to combat Nutrient Deficiency and Iron Chlorosis.


5) Fall (October)

Nutra-Leaf Feeding is an application of Balanced Fertilizer to all ornamental trees and shrubs to promote health and vigor and assist in the plants' resistance to insect and disease problems.


6) Winter (November/December)

Apply a protective coating of Transfilm to all ornamental trees and shrubs. This service will help reduce water loss through the winter and help protect against winter damage.


Additional Services

  • Large Shade Trees (over 12 feet in height) will be individually monitored and treated as necessary. Pricing is dependent upon tree size, identified problem and application solution.
  • Soil Testing is an additional $25 per test (1 soil test per bed) and may be suggested if deterioration in plant health is detected and not caused by any otherwise identifiable factor.
  • pH Adjustments to the shrub bed soil will be done on an "as needed" basis. Pricing is dependent upon bed size and according to soil test results.
